Former TAS Racing man Martin Barr has joined the Tyco Suzuki fold, with his first outing in the Suzuki yello set to be the second round of the Red Bull Pro Nationals at FatCat in Doncaster.

Barr will race the RM-Z450 alongside new teammate Stephen Sword, after recently parting company with Kawasaki.

Barr is a well-known championship contender in both outdoor and indoor disciplines, and having previously campaigned an RM-Z Suzuki for Philip Neill’s TAS Racing team at the Belfast Supercross in 2010, he should fit in well alongside Red Bull Pro National series leader Sword in the Tyco Suzuki lineup.

Barr said, “I’m really happy to be joining Tyco Suzuki and I’d like to thank both Adam Lyons and Philip Neill for making it all happen at such short notice.

“It’s a bit of a rush job going into this weekend but the Suzuki chassis suits my style of riding and I’ll be arriving there with a big smile on my face.

“I know I can be fast and I’ll be aiming to repay them with some good results.”

Team Manager Adam Lyons added, “We’re delighted to be able to offer Martin an opportunity with Tyco Suzuki, despite the fact that we were not looking to expand our rider line-up at this stage of the season.

“The decision was made easier knowing his background and work ethic and also the fact that he has won on Suzuki machinery previously.

“We’re not interested what happened at his last team; it’s about moving forward now and getting results for TAS Racing, and I believe riding alongside Swordy in MX1 will benefit both men on track and also the team.”
