Stephen Sword bounced back from a bout of flu, to come away from Milton and the fourth round of the championship narrowly missing the podium.

Despite not feeling 100%, the Tyco Suzuki MX1 rider carded a 2-7-5 over the weekend, and still sits fourth in the championship.

He said, “A mixed day for me really. A good first race, bad second race and okay third race.

“The second race cost me the podium overall and I wasn’t happy with my riding at times and was struggling with a sore throat that I picked up a few days before Milton.

“It definitely took the edge off me but I’m looking forward to the second round of the Red Bull this weekend.”

Dubliner Stuart Edmonds climbed one place to ninth in the overall MX2 British Championship standings with seventh in the opening moto and sixth placed MX2 rider in the combined third moto. He crashed in the second.

He said, “That was a good positive day for me and my extra work in the week helped.

“I got a bit excited in the second moto after a great start and binned it, so that cost me, but I’m happy with my riding and very happy with the RM-Z250.

“I’m going to work hard this week in the sand and get ready for Fatcat with high hopes of putting it on the top step in the Red Bull.”

Adam Lyons, the Team Manager, commented, “The track conditions combined with the high temperatures made it very difficult for everyone, but we posted decent results and have come away with no injuries.

“Stephen was unlucky not to take away a podium but he’s still in there in the championship hunt.

“Stuart rode mega at Milton and showed me why he deserves to be on the Tyco Suzuki.

“He crashed in the second moto but was mixing it with the likes of Mel Pocock in that final combined race and also beat MX1 top six man Gert Krestinov.

“We’ve got to keep up the good work and carry some momentum into Fatcat this coming weekend as we are leading the MX1 Red Bull series.”
