Josh Brookes put his Tyco Suzuki GSX-R1000 on the podium in the first race of three at Oulton Park, after leading for long periods.

The Australian led the pack through the opening stages, until a red flag came out for a crash involving John Kirkham.

After the restart Brookes hit the front again, but was unable to fend off Tommy Hill and Noriuki Haga, and had to settle for third, with teammate Alastair Seeley fourth.

Brookes said, “For the restart there wasn’t a strategy, we just had to go for it!

“I gave it everything and I think maybe being aggressive with the power gave me a few spins but it is another podium for us and that is what is important.

“Tommy and Nori did a good race and I had tried everything but it wasn’t enough today, but third is a good result and more points for the championship.”

Brookes is currently second in the championship with two more races today.
